Château L′Estran 2016, Médoc

‘Cru Bourgeois’ estates are increasingly contesting the finest Châteaux for quality in Médoc. They have to reapply for the status every five years, so they can’t rest on their laurels. Château L’Estran’s Cabernet-dominated blend is made from hand-harvested grapes from 40-year-old vines. It’s an example of exactly what’s needed to make the cut. It’s a classic Left Bank blend that’s drinking brilliantly now. Expect complex notes of blackberry, spice, oak and velvet-smooth tannins. Pair this with roast lamb to really bring out the best in both.
